Nice. Rythmical intricacies aside, i think that what makes it catchy is the « vocal » quality of the lead instrument. Coincidentally or not, one of the Youtube comments just says « T99 ». I wonder if it refers to the « Anasthasia » rave anthem and its « vocal-like » techno-stab. I like both of the tracks but i don't think they are that close ! This might be too obvious a suggestion, but if you're looking for party rocking and upbeat, have you listened to the Tone Capsule album Phoenicia did under the name Soul Oddity? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7raY5QpWgA On Fri, Apr 19, 2024 at 6:05 PM Laurent Knauth <laurent.knauth@gmail.com> wrote:

Fully onboard with most everything on Schematic Record, and to Rjyan’s reco, that Soul Oddity record is amazing. What about new stuff? What’s everyone listening to in the “IDM” vein these days? Thanks for the heads up. I don't think there's any other musical genre as open to questioning as IDM ! A kind of eternally questioning introspection. That said, although no music comes from nowhere and Amon Tobin has never been a "purist", I wouldn't rate "Long Stories" as "IDM". Organs, Mellotron, rotary speakers, mallets, electric piano, modular bleeps, phasey analog strings and so on : all these ingredients qualify it as an assertive homage to progressive rock, closer to Pink Floyd than Warp Records in my opinion. Listening to this album didn't really move me, but the production level is highly impressive. Amon Tobin has come a long way.
